Why local processing matters

Planning page ranges

Open the PDF first and check its actual page counter. Covers and unnumbered front matter can make the printed page number differ from the viewer’s number. Use 4-9 for a continuous range or 2, 5, 11-13 for separate selections. Reopen the download and verify the order.

What is preserved?

Splitting does not deliberately reduce visual quality; selected pages are copied into a new PDF. Password-protected or damaged documents may not process. Saving every page separately can create many files and prompt the browser to allow multiple downloads.

Choose Between One Range and Separate Files

Range mode is best when one recipient needs a selected set of pages in a single new PDF. The separate-pages option suits archives or upload fields that require one document per page, but a long source can trigger many browser downloads.

Splitting copies pages; it does not edit their contents or reflow text. Page dimensions and appearance remain as they were. Printed numbers can differ from the PDF viewer’s counter when a cover or unnumbered front matter comes first.

If the File Cannot Be Processed

• Remove password protection in an authorised application before retrying.
• Re-export a damaged PDF from its source program.
• For a very large document, close other heavy tabs and leave this page open until the operation finishes.
