PNG to JPG Converter

Drag and drop your PNG files and download them as JPG. No sign-up, no upload — the whole conversion happens on your device.

The Trade-off Behind PNG to JPEG

JPEG can be a smaller, widely accepted choice for a photographic PNG used in email, archives or a form that permits JPG only. Logos, screenshots and sharp type often belong in PNG because lossy compression can damage their edges.

JPEG cannot store alpha transparency. This converter flattens transparent pixels onto white; add a different background in an editor before converting if white is not appropriate.

How to Use It

  1. Drag your PNG files into the box above, or click to browse (multiple files are supported).
  2. Adjust the quality slider if needed.
  3. Click "Convert".
  4. The converted JPG files start downloading automatically; if there's more than one, use "Download All" to grab them all.

Quality Control, Alpha and Re-encoding

The percentage sets JPEG compression. Lower values reduce size but can create banding in gradients and ringing around text. Inspect faces, fine texture and small labels rather than judging the result by file size alone.

Pixel dimensions remain unchanged; this is not a resize operation. A new file is encoded from a browser canvas, so ancillary PNG metadata and some colour-profile information may not carry over.

Cases Where JPEG Is a Better Fit

  • Convert a photograph that does not need transparency into a broadly accepted format.
  • Upload to an older application or CMS that rejects PNG.
  • Reduce a photo-oriented file with a carefully chosen JPEG quality level.

For a broader format-selection framework, read the file conversion guide.

Where the File Content Is Processed

Your selected file is read by browser APIs on the device; RizeTab does not upload its content to a processing server. PDF routes may download pdf-lib or pdf.js code from a CDN. That request can expose an IP address and ordinary connection details to the provider, but the file being converted is not part of it.

Questions Specific to This Conversion

What colour replaces transparent PNG areas?

Alpha pixels are flattened onto white. This converter does not provide a custom background-colour control.

Is PNG to JPEG lossy?

Yes. JPEG compression discards information; the visible impact depends on the image and quality setting.

Will the pixel dimensions change?

No. Width and height stay the same; only the format and encoding change.

Is JPEG suitable for logos or screenshots?

PNG is usually safer for those. JPEG can create artefacts around flat-colour edges and small text.

Is source metadata retained?

No. Canvas re-encoding does not copy ancillary metadata into the output, so keep the original PNG as an archive source.
