Type or paste your text to see live word, character, sentence, and paragraph totals. Your text never leaves your device.

Text counter

0Words
0Characters
0Without spaces
0Sentences
0Paragraphs

Add an optional character limit to track how much space remains.

What Does This Counter Measure?

The tool reports five useful measures: words, all characters, characters after whitespace is removed, sentences, and paragraphs. It is designed for everyday jobs where text has to fit a form, profile, title, assignment brief, product description, or publishing field without relying on guesswork.

How to Use It

  1. Type or paste your content into the large text area.
  2. Watch every total update as you edit.
  3. If you have a hard cap, enter it in the optional character-limit field.
  4. Use “Copy Statistics” when you need to share or record the summary.
  5. Select “Clear” before starting a different piece of text.

Useful Situations

Forms and profiles

Fit a biography, application summary, or product description into a stated character allowance.

Drafts and assignments

Use word and paragraph totals to spot sections that are thin, repetitive, or out of balance.

Titles and short copy

Compare totals with and without spaces when a system's character rule is unclear.

Editorial checks

Review sentence and paragraph distribution while breaking up dense blocks of copy.

Practical Benefits

  • Results update as you type; there is no submit or calculate step.
  • Counts with and without whitespace are shown separately.
  • The optional limit clearly reports the remaining or excess characters.
  • Modern browsers use built-in Unicode text segmentation for more natural handling of accented text and emoji.
  • No software, account, or third-party processing API is required.

Privacy and Processing

Counting happens entirely on the client side. The text you enter is not attached to a network request or uploaded to a RizeTab processing server, and the tool does not save the field for a later visit. When working with sensitive material, you should still make sure that your own device and browser extensions are trustworthy.

Make Sense of Text-Length Rules

A word limit and a character limit solve different problems, and spaces or joined emoji can change the result. Read the practical word and character counting guide for a reliable workflow. To normalize capitalization first, use the Text Case Converter, or browse all RizeTab tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the word and character counter free?

Yes. The tool is free to use and requires no account.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. The page counts your text locally with JavaScript and does not send it to a processing server.

Are spaces included in the character count?

The “Characters” total includes spaces and line breaks. The “Without spaces” total excludes whitespace characters.

How are emoji and accented characters counted?

Modern browsers count user-perceived Unicode character groups. Older browsers use a Unicode code-point fallback, so a small number of joined emoji sequences may produce a different total.

How do I track a character limit?

Enter your target in the optional character-limit field. The tool immediately shows how many characters remain or how far the text exceeds the limit.
